Carrboro Farmers' Market and Southern Village Farmers' Market
Carrboro / Orange County
Carrboro Farmers' Market and Southern Village Farmers' Market Having cultivated a reputation as one of the country’s best and admired as an exemplary vendor-run market for its success and longevity, this farmers' market features a regional variety of seasonal vegetables and fruits, flowers and flower arrangements, cow and goats milk cheeses, meats, prepared foods such as jams and pickles, baked goods, bedding and landscape plants, herbs, honey, value-added farm products such as soap and mohair weavings, and a number of artistic craft items such as metal works, pottery, pressed flowers, baskets, and quilts. Located at the Carrboro Town Commons adjacent to the Town Hall, this local business enterprise in Carrboro often mentors new farmers' markets around the country and the state, including the Farmers' Market at Southern Village in nearby Chapel Hill. Three key features establish these two as true "farmers' markets" - 1) the vendors produce all goods sold at the Market, 2) all products are produced within a 50-mile radius of Carrboro and Chapel Hill, and 3) vendors represent their own products so visitors will have an opportunity to talk with and purchase from knowledgeable and experienced growers.
