Horne Creek Living Historical Farm State Historic Site

Horne Creek Living Historical Farm State Historic Site A research center and outdoor museum dedicated to the study, preservation, and interpretation of North Carolina's rural and agricultural heritage. Costumed guides interpret everyday life during the early 20th century when Thomas and Charlotte Hauser raised their 12 children on the farm. Seasonal activities include traditional music on designated "Toe-Tappin" Saturday afternoons, wood chopping or the annual cornshucking and period holiday decorations, carols, and foods. The site is also home to the Southern Heritage Apple Orchard, established in 1997.The developing orchard will contain more than 400 varieties of old Southern apple trees. Tours, educational programs, and seminars. Check the web site for special events. Groups should phone in advance to make reservations.

Days/Hours: Farm: Open Year-Round, Tues.-Sat., 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Closed Sun.-Mon. and major holidays. Orchard: By appointment.
Fees: Free. Donations accepted. For special events donations are suggested and nominal fees are charged for food and drinks.
