Have you ever looped tobacco, milked a cow, shelled corn by hand, used tools that were non electrical, eaten homemade ice cream, quilted by hand, or participated in a watermelon seed spitting contest? These are all part of what the Jones County Heritage Festival offers on the third Saturday in September at the Jones County Civic Center. The festivities begin with a parade through downtown Trenton with artist lining the sidewalks. Then festival-goers move to the civic center for an antique car show, demonstrations from the Civil War, Motorcycle exhibitions, interviews with citizens of the county, children's activities, etc. An old timey day full of fun, food, and fellowship. After the festivities sit back and enjoy the "Down Home Country" variety show starring Rick Vernon from Kinston.
