When Candace came into Pamlico County on a sailboat to live, she made three bowls for her family. Since bowls were easier to handle on a sailboat, they got used to eating everything in them. That practice spilled over when she moved back on land and soon pottery and bowls were a way of life!
Stop by Candace's studio/gallery for her lovely "smoke painted" Raku, carved and pierced stoneware, unique flower arranging vessels and copper and clay sculptures. The studio is open to the public and Candace is happy to demonstrate and explain the methods she has developed over the years to make the variety of work. Don't miss her formal Open House the second week in December. It's become a local holiday event. Here's how to get there: Bayboro on Highway 55. Go 12 miles, in Bayboro, pass the Courthouse on the left, and turn left onto Route 304 North (Vandemere Road). Go three short blocks and turn right. Go down the driveway towards the River and into the parking area. Studio is on the left.
